purpleSTARS have been collaborating with RawMaterial creating music, poetry and the photos below in response to the Roots, Rhythms and Records Exhibition at Hackney Museum. They were inspired by the exhibition to create a suitcase showing Pride in their heritage containing Objects that link to the exhibition. In the suitcase is a drum and different forms of how we used to listen to Music including a record, cd, tape player and memory stick. There is Attire including a 1940’s ‘Windrush’ tie, Kente cloth head wrap and a Bob Marley Tee Shirt and Food including Jollof Rice, Jerk Chicken, Dumplings and Chillie Peppers.
